NCAA Game Summary - Charlotte at East Carolina

Greenville, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Akeem Richmond connected on eight attempts from beyond the arc to lift the East Carolina Pirates to a 75-68 win over the Charlotte 49ers in a Conference USA tilt at Minges Coliseum.

Richmond finished with a game-high 27 points for ECU (16-13, 5-9 C-USA) as it collected its third win in a row. Antonio Robinson added 15 points and six rebounds, while Caleb White netted 14 points.

The 49ers (14-13, 5-9) had their losing streak extended to six games despite a strong showing by Pierria Henry, who tallied 20 points, five rebounds and four assists. Denzel Ingram and Terrence Williams scored 11 points apiece in the setback.

Richmond knocked down five shots from 3-point range in the opening stanza. Although the Pirates were limited to 39.3 percent efficiency from the floor before the break, they managed to take a 32-24 lead into halftime. Charlotte hit on only 33.3 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half.

The 49ers improved to hit on 58.1 percent of its shots from the floor, including a 6-of-14 clip from behind the 3-point line after the intermission. ECU outscored the visitors, 19-2, at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes to escape with the decision.

Despite the loss, Charlotte finished with a 36-31 edge in total rebounds in addition to a 34-14 advantage in points in the paint.
