NCAA Game Summary - Connecticut at South Florida

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Shabazz Napier tallied 17 points and seven assists as the Connecticut Huskies defeated the South Florida Bulls, 61-56, in an American Athletic Conference clash at the Sun Dome.

Ryan Boatright had 14 points, as Niels Giffey logged 11 and five boards for the Huskies (22-6, 10-5 AAC), who have won five of their last six games.

Victor Rudd finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Bulls (12-16, 3-12), who extended their losing streak to five straight.

USF shot 35.7 percent from the field in the first period and led 28-22 at the half. UConn struggled and made just 29.2 percent of its field goal attempts.

The Huskies played better in the second frame as they connected on 56 percent of their field goal tries. After having their lead cut to one with 3:54 left, the Huskies went on an 11-7 run to close out the win.

Despite the loss, the Bulls outrebounded UConn, 39-29. The Huskies had the edge in points off turnovers, 20-6.
