NCAA Game Summary - Georgia Tech at Notre Dame

Notre Dame, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Garrick Sherman scored 21 points on 10- of-15 shooting as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish narrowly beat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 65-62, in an Atlantic Coast Conference contest at Purcell Pavilion.

Eric Atkins added 17 points as Pat Connaughton had eight rebounds and six assists for the Fighting Irish (15-14, 6-10 ACC), who snapped a two-game losing skid.

Robert Carter Jr. registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards, while Marcus Georges-Hunt finished with 13 points for the Yellow Jackets (13-15, 4-11), who have lost three straight games.

Notre Dame shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, and led 33-31 at the break. Georgia Tech made 36.4 percent of its field goal attempts, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range.

The Irish struggled a bit in the second period as they only connected on 42.9 percent of their field goal tries. After leading for most of the frame, Notre Dame's lead was cut to one with 1:09 left after a 3-pointer from Carter Jr. The Irish held off the Yellow Jackets after Connaughton made two free-throws with 24 seconds.

Notre Dame dominated play inside, outscoring Georgia Tech 42-16 in the paint.
