NCAA Game Summary - Florida Atlantic at FIU

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tymell Murphy tallied a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, as the FIU Panthers rolled past the Florida Atlantic Owls, 66-57, in a Conference USA showdown at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

Dennis Mavin scored 14 points and Jerome Frink added 13 points, nine boards and four steals for the Panthers (11-9, 3-2 C-USA), who have won two straight. Rakeem Buckles chipped in 12 points for the hosts.

Pablo Bertone led the Owls (7-13, 2-3) with 19 points and three steals. Justin Raffington registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards to go with five assists.

FIU started hot by shooting 63.6 percent from the floor in the opening stanza, as they led 34-24 at the intermission. FAU struggled by making just 38.5 percent from the field.

The Panthers connected on only 36.7 percent of their field goal attempts in the second period but it proved to be enough. With 8:47 remaining, the Owls cut the lead to just two points, but from there the Panthers went on a 17-10 run to close out the game and seal the win.

The home team dominated the glass with a 43-29 rebounding advantage.
