NCAA Game Summary - Wake Forest at Virginia Tech

Blacksburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Codi Miller-McIntyre tallied 20 points and 10 assists, as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons outlasted the Virginia Tech Hokies, 83-77, in an Atlantic Coast Conference showdown at Cassell Coliseum.

Travis McKie led the way with 24 points on 5-of-6 from 3-point range for Wake Forest (13-6, 3-0 ACC), which has won two of three. Devin Thomas added seven points and nine rebounds for the visitors.

For Virginia Tech (8-10, 1-5), losers of five straight, Devin Wilson paced all scorers with 26 points on 6-of-10 from the field and 11-of-14 at the foul line. Jarell Eddie was also stellar with 20 points, while Trevor Thompson posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Wake Forest dominated the first half of action, outshooting Virginia Tech from the field, 54.8 percent to 22.6 percent, as it carried a 43-27 lead into intermission.

The Hokies improved their field goal efficiency to 44.1 percent after halftime, but the Deacons kept a hot shooting hand (.520) and held on for the six-point victory.

Both teams made nine 3-pointers, but Wake Forest shot a lofty 56.3 percent from long range, compared to 39.1 percent for Virginia Tech.
