Blacksburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Lonnie Jackson shot 5-of-8 from beyond the arc and led all scorers with 17 points, as the Boston College Eagles outlasted the Virginia Tech Hokies, 62-59, in Atlantic Coast Conference play from Cassell Coliseum.
Olivier Hanlan chipped in with 14 points, and Ryan Anderson grabbed a game- high 12 rebounds to help the Eagles (5-11, 1-2 ACC) snap a four-game slide and notch their first win over a Division I opponent since Nov. 26.
Adam Smith led the way with 12 points off the bench for the Hokies (8-7, 1-2), who have dropped four of their last five outings. C.J. Barksdale added 11 points, while Jarell Eddie finished with 10 points and eight boards.
The Eagles connected on 7-of-14 threes in the first half, yet it was Virginia Tech claiming a 34-32 halftime lead after weathering the early storm.
The Hokies jumped out to a five-point lead early in the second stanza, but they were unable to sustain any offensive momentum as they went on to shoot a dismal 8-of-28 (.286) from the floor over the final 20 minutes.
Neither team led by more than five at any point, as the game featured 11 ties and 15 lead changes.
