NCAA Game Summary - Oregon State at Hawaii

Honolulu, HI (SportsNetwork.com) - Isaac Fotu led a balanced Hawaii attack with 17 points as the host Warriors claimed fifth place at the Diamond Head Classic with a 79-73 win over Oregon State on Christmas Day.

Garrett Nevels scored 16 points and Monday's hero Christian Standhardinger, who knocked down a baseline jumper to lift Hawaii (9-3) past St. Mary's in the second round, added 15 in the triumph. Brandon Spearman went for 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Keith Shamburger filled it up with nine points, 10 assists and six boards.

Roberto Nelson led all scorers with 24 points in the setback, while Challe Barton and Devon Collier netted 13 apiece for Oregon State, losers in two of three. The Beavers made 15-of-16 free throws as a team.

Neither team gained any separation for the bulk of the first half until Standhardinger's layup capped a 14-4 run which gave Hawaii a 40-30 spread late. Oregon State, however, scored the final eight points of the period and went into halftime trailing by two.

Midway through the second half, Hawaii built a 19-point cushion following a 12-0 burst that spanned more than five minutes. Despite a furious late rally by OSU, the Warriors prevailed.
