NCAA Game Summary - Xavier at Alabama

Tuscaloosa, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Isaiah Philmore posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Xavier Musketeers over the Alabama Crimson Tide, 77-74, in a non-conference clash at Coleman Coliseum.

Matt Stainbrook also finished with 17 points for the Musketeers (9-3), who won for the fourth-straight time. Davis Dee added 12 points and Myles Davis chipped in with 10 for the visitors.

For the Crimson Tide (5-6), Trevor Releford led the way with 17 points, while Shannon Hale finished with 14 points and Levi Randolph scored 13.

Alabama shot 46.2 percent from the field, hitting 4-of-11 from 3-point range, in the first half, as it took a 33-26 lead into the break. Xavier struggled from the floor, making only 33.3 percent of its field goal tries and missing all but one of its eight 3-point tries in the opening period.

After intermission, the Musketeers improved from the field, shooting 45.5 percent and knocking down 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. The Crimson Tide continued to shoot the ball well, connecting on 52.4 percent of their field goal attempts, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Trailing 57-50 with 8:30 to play, the Musketeers used a 14-4 run over the next four minutes to take the lead for good, as they pulled out the comeback victory on the road.

Despite their poor shooting performance, Xavier was able to pull down 17 offensive rebounds that it converted into 19 second-chance points. Xavier also dominated under the basket, outscoring Alabama in the paint, 38-28.
