NCAA Game Summary - Alabama vs. Drexel

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Fouch scored 19 points and Drexel outlasted Alabama in a three-overtime thriller to record an 85-83 decision in the consolation game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden.

Fouch's biggest bucket came with the Dragons down by two in the waning stages of regulation. The senior guard stole the ball from Trevor Releford and converted a layup with 12 seconds left that knotted the score at 61-61.

Drexel (4-2) then owned a 67-65 edge near the end of the first overtime, but the Crimson Tide's Retin Obasohan was fouled driving to the basket with four seconds on the clock and sank both free throws to extend the game.

The second OT concluded much like the first, with Obasohan drawing a foul with 15 seconds to go and again hitting both shots to forge a 77-77 deadlock. On the following possession, he came up with a clean block of Fouch on a layup attempt that brought about yet another extra session.

Drexel finally began to gain some separation in the third overtime, netting the first six points of the period to take an 83-77 lead. Alabama fought back with a 6-2 run, however, and closed within two on an Obasohan layup with 1:41 left.

The Crimson Tide had a chance to force a fourth OT when Jimmie Taylor was fouled with 4.0 seconds to go. However, he misfired on his initial free throw try before deliberately missing the second. Releford came up with the offensive board, but his shot in close was off the mark as time expired.

Frantz Massenat added 17 points for the Dragons, who were coming off a tough 66-62 loss to No. 4 Arizona in Wednesday's semifinals. Tavon Allen finished with 16 points, while Kazembe Abif had 15 along with 11 rebounds.

Nick Jacobs paced Alabama (3-3) with 23 points on 11-of-15 shooting before fouling out early in the third overtime. Releford had 21 points, with Obasohan registering 18 along with five assists.
