NCAA Game Summary - TCU at Alaska Anchorage
Anchorage, AK (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyan Anderson tallied 18 points as the TCU Horned Frogs outlasted the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, 73-70, in the opening round of the Great Alaska Shootout at Sullivan Arena.
Amric Fields added 16 points for TCU (3-2). Jarvis Ray scored 15 points, Brandon Parrish netted 11, and Karviar Shepherd grabbed 12 rebounds.
For Alaska Anchorage (5-2), Travis Thompson led all scorers with 19 points, while Brian McGill registered 16 points and six assists.
In a back-and-forth first half, McGill made a layup with five seconds left to give the Seawolves a 35-33 lead heading into the break. They shot just 34.5 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes but made up for it with a 12- of-14 showing at the foul line.
The game remained tight throughout the second half, but with TCU trailing late, Fields made a jumper and hit a pair of free throws in the final 10 seconds to secure the win for the Horned Frogs.
TCU will take on Tulsa in the semifinals on Friday.
