NCAA Game Summary - Seton Hall vs. Virginia Tech

Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Fuquan Edwin scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and recorded three steals to lead the Seton Hall Pirates to a 68-67 decision over the Virginia Tech Hokies in the consolation final of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at the Barclays Center.

Jaren Sina gave the Pirates (4-2) a spark off the bench with 13 points with the help of a 4-of-5 clip from beyond the arc. Gene Teague registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Brian Oliver tallied 11 points and six boards.

Jarell Eddie posted a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to pace Virginia Tech (3-3). Ben Emelogu added 18 points off the bench while Adam Smith tallied 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor. Devin Wilson only scored two points, but handed out a game-high eight assists in the losing effort.

The Pirates took a 38-36 lead into the intermission after it knocked down 7- of-15 shots from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes of action. Virginia Tech shot just 34.5 percent from the floor, but converted 10-of-13 tries at the charity stripe in the first stanza.

Seton Hall hit on just 26.7 percent of its field goal attempts including 3- of-11 from beyond the arc in the second half. The Hokies improved to sink 46.4 percent of their shots from the floor after the break. Virginia Tech held a 61-57 advantage with 1:44 left to play. The Pirates cut the deficit in half as Tom Maayan made a layup 20 seconds later. Edwin spearheaded a late rally as he knocked down a 3-point field goal with 27 seconds left to give Seton Hall a one-point lead. Then Edwin was fouled after a defensive rebound and sank a pair of free-throw attempts to extend the Pirates' lead to three. Emelogu made a pair of 3-pointers in the final five seconds, but Sterling Gibbs and Edwin both made shots at the charity stripe to put it out of reach.

The tightly contested bout was reflected in the rebounding battle which Seton Hall slightly won, 42-41.
