NCAA Game Summary - Florida Atlantic at Detroit

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Juwan Howard, Jr. and Matthew Grant netted 14 points each as the Detroit Titans coasted to a 77-44 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls in a non-conference matchup as part of the 2K Sports Classic at Calihan Hall.

Anton Wilson and Patrick Onwenu tallied 11 points each for Detroit (3-2), which also received nine rebounds and three blocked shots from Uhochukwu Njoku.

Pablo Betrone paced FAU (1-4) with 10 points, but made only 4-of-15 shots from the floor and committed five of the Owls' 23 turnovers.

FAU struggled in the early stages of the contest as it hit on only 8-of-27 shots from the field and committed 11 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes. The Titans took a 32-20 lead into halftime after converting nine of their 11 free- throw attempts in the first period.

Detroit knocked down 6-of-9 attempts from 3-point range and all nine of its shots at the charity stripe after halftime to pull away. The Owls converted only 35.3 percent of the field goal tries and attempted 11 less shots from the floor after the intermission.

The Titans' bench outscored FAU's reserves, 38-13. Detroit converted the Owls' miscues into 25 points.

FAU will try to bounce back on Saturday when it squares off with Stony Brook. Following that matchup, the Titans will take on Toledo.
