NCAA Game Summary - Eastern Kentucky vs. FIU

Kennesaw, GA (Sports Network) - Glenn Cosey scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Eastern Kentucky Colonels over the FIU Panthers, 83-61, in the opening round of the 2013 Kennesaw State Men's Basketball Tournament at the KSU Convocation Center.

Cosey added eight assists, six rebounds and three steals while knocking down three 3-pointers for the Colonels (1-0), who are coming off the winningest season in program history in 2012-13. Marcus Lewis added a career-high 16 points on 7-of-9 from the floor. Orlando Williams contributed 14 points off the bench, and Corey Walden managed 11 points while going perfect from the free-throw line on six attempts.

FIU (0-1) was led by double-double performances from both Tymell Murphy (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Rakeem Buckles (13 points, 12 rebounds). Murphy also added three blocks, while eight of Buckles' 12 boards came on the offensive glass. Raymond Taylor scored 11 points and made good on 3-of-4 shots from beyond the arc.

The Colonels dominated the first half, shooting 48 percent from the field, including 7-of-15 from 3-point range, to go into the break with a 45-24 lead.

EKU continued to shoot a high percentage after halftime, going 12-of-24 from the field, as it led by as many as 30 late in the game.

The Panthers turned the ball over 14 times, which led to 25 points for EKU.

FKU will play tournament hosts Kennesaw State on Saturday, while FIU takes on Youngstown State.
