<p>BOSTON (AP)  T.J. Williams scored 30 points and Alex Murphy added 20 as Northeastern edged Boston 87-77 in a season opener for both teams on Friday night.</p>
<p>Williams was 9 of 15 from the field and hit 11 of 15 free throws for the Huskies. Murphy was 7 of 10 from the field including three 3-pointers and had eight assists. Donnell Gresham Jr. added 12 points and three rebounds.</p>
<p>Northeastern took an early lead in the first half and Williams dunked it to give put the Huskies up by 10, 25-15, with 9:05 to play in the first half. They never trailed after that and were up 41-25 at the break.</p>

<p>Boston closed the gap to trail 84-76 on a dunk by Eric Fanning with 16 seconds to play but two free throws by Williams with 12 seconds left kept the Huskies on top.</p>
<p>Fanning led the Terriers with 29 points. Justin Alston added 12 points and eight rebounds.</p>
