<p>MALIBU, Calif. (AP)  Lamond Murray scored 23 points, Chris Reyes added 20, and Pepperdine pulled away late for a 77-68 win over Cal Poly in its season opener on Friday night.</p>
<p>Pepperdine led 39-31 at halftime and maintained the advantage with Ryan Keenan's layup to give the Waves a 49-41 lead with 13:27 to play. But Cal Poly used a 10-2 run capped by Victor Joseph's 3-pointer to tie it at 51 midway through the half.</p>
<p>The Waves answered with nine straight points, and Cal Poly never seriously threatened again.</p>

<p>Jeremy Major had 11 assists for Pepperdine, moving into fourth place on the Waves' all-time assist list.</p>
<p>Josh Martin tallied career highs with 17 points and 21 rebounds for the Mustangs en route to his third career double-double. Luke Meikle also had 17 points for Cal Poly.</p>
