Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will not be in uniform Saturday night at home against the Detroit Pistons due to a sore left elbow.

E'Twaun Moore will get the start in his place.

The injury occurred during Tuesday's 98-96 win over the Indiana Pacers. Rose made an effort to play two nights later against the Houston Rockets, but was yanked from the game after 12 minutes of action.

It was the first time in his eight-year career that the former league Most Valuable Player failed to get up a shot attempt.

"It hurts," Rose said about having to sit out. "But just gotta be smart. I'm out there playing with one hand."

The 27-year-old hasn't ruled out playing Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks. He'll wait to see if there's any improvement in his elbow before making a final decision.

Chicago is currently fighting for its playoff lives as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference at 38-37, however, a victory over Detroit on Saturday would bring the Bulls to within half a game of the Pistons for the seventh seed.
