Davis (knee, shoulder) underwent successful surgery on his left knee Thursday and is expected to resume basketball activities in 3-to-4 months. The Pelicans also announced Thursday that Davis' partially torn labrum will not require surgery.

Analysis:

Davis was shut down for the remainder of the season Sunday due to significant knee and shoulder injuries. It has since been reported that Davis has been dealing with a partially torn posterior labrum tear in his left shoulder for three years. Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who examined Davis' shoulder, said "posterior labral tears typically do not predictably cause instability in as high a percentage of players as anterior labral tears." He further notes that Davis' shoulder stability is strong enough to where his shoulder will just require rest and rehab rather than surgery. Davis will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, but the expectation is that he'll be ready for the beginning of the 2016-17 regular season.
