Eric Gordon: Could be done for season

Coach Alvin Gentry suggested that Gordon, who fractured his right ring finger in Saturday's loss to the Jazz, could be at risk of missing the remainder of the season. "If it's gonna be six-to-eight weeks -- and I'm just speculating right now, I don't know that for sure -- but if that's gonna be the case, it pretty much takes him until the end of the season," Gentry said.

Analysis:

Gordon previously fractured the same finger in late January and required surgery, which forced him out of 16 games. The Pelicans initially ruled Gordon out for four-to-six weeks the first time around, so it's possible that the team could exercise even more caution this time around. With just over a month left in the season and the Pelicans facing long odds to make the playoffs, it seems quite plausible that the team will shut Gordon down, but official word on that front should come in the next few days. Jrue Holiday started at shooting guard in the second half of Saturday's game in Gordon's place, and could take over the starting role for the duration of Gordon's absence.
