Jameer Nelson (wrist) but didn't see the court Wednesday due to coach's decision

Nelson (wrist) was available to play in Wednesday's win over the Nuggets, but didn't see the court due to a coach's decision, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

Nelson opted to forgo season-ending surgery to repair the sprained left wrist that's bothered him for much of the past two months, but coach Mike Malone seems reluctant to let the veteran play through any pain. The Nuggets acquired D.J. Augustin at the trade deadline specifically to bolster their depth at point guard while Nelson remained banged up, and that will likely force Nelson to settle for third-string duties for what remains of the season. With Augustin going off for a season-high 26 points Wednesday, Nelson isn't exactly gaining ground in the job battle.
