Martin and the Timberwolves reached an agreement on a buyout Tuesday, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports.

Analysis:

The two sides had been talking about a buyout for over a week, with the idea of giving Martin a chance at joining a contending squad before Tuesday's midnight deadline for teams to reach buyout agreements with their players. There have been whispers about the Spurs possibly being interested in Martin given concerns about Manu Ginobili's health following testicular surgery. Regardless of where Martin signs, he's unlikely to be a starter, and may not even see 20-plus minutes off the bench, as there's a strong likelihood that whoever he signs with won't need him to take on a huge role.
