Danilo Gallinari: Expected to miss one month

Gallinari is expected to miss one month after he was diagnosed Monday with two torn lateral ligaments and a medial ligament sprain in his right ankle, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

The timetable just about aligns with the original three-to-four week recovery period that was first reported Sunday. With the season coming to an end in mid-April, it's certainly the possible that we've seen the last of Gallinari in 2015-16, as the Nuggets may not want to take any chances with getting him back on the court while the team remains out of playoff contention. Gallinari, who missed all of 2013-14 with a torn ACL, has been enjoying the best season of his career, as he's averaging 19.5 points and 5.3 rebounds over 53 appearances. JaKarr Sampson started at small forward in place of Gallinari in Monday's loss to the Grizzlies and played 30 minutes, but sixth man Will Barton figures to be the primary beneficiary of Gallinari's absence.
