Danilo Gallinari: Without timetable for return

Gallinari (ankle) is without a timetable for return after the Nuggets announced Monday that he's dealing with tears in his calcaneofibular and anterior talofibular ligaments, in addition to a sprained deltoid ligament, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

A three-to-four week timeline was originally estimated for Gallinari's return when the initial diagnosis was a sprained right ankle. With only 22 games left on the schedule for the Nuggets and their playoff hopes slowly fading, it wouldn't be surprising if Gallinari was ultimately shut down for the remainder of the year. In his absence, Will Barton should see a boost in usage similar to when Gallinari sat out six consecutive games with another sprained ankle injury in late December.
