The Miami Heat have had discussions with free-agent guard Marcus Thornton, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania, citing sources.
The report comes with word from Charania that the Heat are negotiating a buyout with backup point guard Beno Udrih, who recently had season-ending foot surgery. By getting Udrih to accept a buyout, the Heat can get back underneath the luxury-tax line after the weekend addition of Joe Johnson.
Furthermore, they would have room to add a player like Thornton.
Thornton was waived by the Houston Rockets on Friday after averaging 10 points in 18.8 minutes per game this season.
