Lakers discussing shutting down Larry Nance Jr. for season

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers are considering shutting down rookie power forward Larry Nance Jr. for the remainder of the season, according to ESPN's Baxter Holmes.

Nance was taken out of Monday night's 108-101 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks after re-injuring his knee. Head coach Byron Scott and trainer Gary Vitti have reportedly talked about sitting Nance for the team's remaining 24 contests.

"We've talked about it, they've talked about it, but at the same time, at this point right now, it's precautionary," Nance said.

In 43 games, Nance has averaged 5.7 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. The Wyoming product already missed six games prior to the All-Star break and will be evaluated ahead of Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
