New Orleans Pelicans wing Tyreke Evans is planning to undergo surgery on his right knee, which will likely keep him out for the remainder of the season, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

Sources told Charania that Evans is set to visit specialists this week to finalize the details of his surgery.

It will be the fourth right knee procedure for Evans in the past two years. He had arthroscopic surgery on the knee in October, and subsequently missed the first month of the season. That came just five months after Evans had arthroscopic surgery to close out the 2014-15 season; he also had scar tissue removed from the knee at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

Evans has sat out the Pelicans' last seven games due to a flareup of tendinitis.

In the third season of a four-year, $44-million deal with New Orleans, the tri-positional 26-year-old has been a versatile and productive playmaker, averaging 15.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and a team-leading 6.6 assists, while posting career highs in 3-point percentage (38.8) and PER (18.4).

He's suited up for just 25 games, but the disappointing Pelicans have been slightly less disappointing when he's played, going 11-14 compared to 8-18 without him.
