Wizards' Nene, Neal return to practice, upgraded to day to day

The banged-up Washington Wizards got some good news on Tuesday with the return of center Nene and shooting guard Gary Neal to practice.

Coach Randy Wittman later listed both players as day to day.

Nene injured his calf during a Nov. 27 game against the Boston Celtics and has not played since. Neal has missed the Wizards' last five games with a quad strain.

Nene has come off the bench in all 12 games he's played this season, as Wittman has opted to stretch out the starting lineup with either Jared Dudley or newfound 3-point threat Kris Humphries. The 14-year NBA veteran is averaging 7.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per contest.

Neal, a native of nearby Baltimore, signed a one-year deal with Washington last summer and is fifth on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game.

The Wizards remain without leading scorer Bradley Beal, who has increased his activity level as he deals with a stress reaction in his right leg. He still has no timetable for a return.
