Report: Jazz's Burks to undergo surgery on fractured fibula

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Utah Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks will undergo surgery on his fractured left fibula, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The decision could expedite his return to action, currently reported at a minimum of six weeks.

Burks sustained the injury during Saturday night's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, when he hit the floor hard after a collision with Paul Pierce. Burks also suffered from concussion symptoms as a result of the play.

The procedure, which includes placing a plate and screws in the left leg, will take place Tuesday in Salt Lake City, Wojnarowski reports.

Burks, in his fifth NBA season out of Colorado, was hitting career highs this year in points (14.3) and 3-point percentage (38.7), while throwing down some highlight-reel dunks.
