Gortat, Westbrook named Players of the Week

The NBA announced Monday that Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat and Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook have been named Players of the Week.

Westbrook was excellent as usual as his stat-stuffing efforts helped Oklahoma City to a 3-1 week. He averaged 28 points, 8.8 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and three steals per game.

He also narrowly missed his fourth triple-double of the year when he posted 30 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds in Sunday's win.

Gortat, meanwhile, led the Wizards to a perfect 3-0 week for his first-ever Player of the Week honor. "The Polish Hammer" put up 21.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting a blistering 59.6 percent from the field.

And much to his relief, the honor - not a trade - was the cause for the increased activity on his phone.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta's Jeff Teague, Boston's Jae Crowder, Golden State's Draymond Green, the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul, Miami's Chris Bosh, New Orleans' Anthony Davis, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Orlando's Nikola Vucevic, Portland's C.J. McCollum, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan, and Washington's John Wall.
