Howard is expected to sit out either Friday against Denver or Saturday against Dallas, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

The Rockets will head into their third back-to-back set of the season this weekend, and it looks as though they'll continue to hold Howard out of one-half of those sets. "So far it's been pretty good," Howard said of the plan. "The main thing is that come playoff time I'm in really good shape and that I'm able to play as long as I can, as hard as I can." Howard went on to acknowledge that the decision may be frustrating to fans, but considering his recent history of back and knee issues, the Rockets have reason to play it safe.
