Report: Nets' Lopez not expected to miss time with sore foot

Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

Brook Lopez had a major injury scare Saturday night, but it appears a scare is all it was.

Lopez exited in the third quarter of the Brooklyn Nets' loss to the Milwaukee Bucks with a sore right foot - a foot that's been surgically repaired three times in the past four years. The X-rays he took after the game came back negative, and according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, he won't require any additional tests.

Wojnarowski reports that Lopez is expected to be back in the lineup this week and likely won't miss any games.

That's good news for the 0-7 Nets, whose longtime center may be the only thing keeping them from devolving into a 76ers-esque laughingstock, but mostly it's good news for Lopez, as another serious foot injury could threaten his career.

The 27-year-old missed 160 games over the past four years (after missing nary a one in his first three NBA seasons), and his foot surgeries included the insertion and replacement of a screw on the fifth metatarsal bone.

In seven games this season, he's averaging 20.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in 33.1 minutes.
