Harris had his 2016-17 team option picked up by the Nuggets on Sunday, Chris Dempsey of Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

With Harris' role expected to grow during the coming season, it's not a surprise the Nuggets decided to lock him up for a little longer. The second-year guard out of Michigan State played in 55 games as a rookie, averaging 3.4 points, 1.2 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.1 blocks in 13 minutes per game. He remains in a fight with Randy Foye for the starting shooting guard role, but his early success on both ends of the court during the preseason makes him the favorite to come out on top in the job battle.
