Harden's Adidas deal prevents him from wearing Nikes in public

James Harden will have to stash his collection of Nike sneakers in his closet for at least the next 13 years.

That's how long Harden's recently signed $200-million contract with competitor Adidas runs, and such a lucrative deal apparently doesn't come without some strings attached.

For one, Harden - who TMZ recently spotted rocking Air Jordans - is prohibited from wearing any such Nike products in public for the life of the deal (which officially begins Oct. 1), ESPN's Darren Rovell reports.

"That's part of the deal," Adidas executive Mark King told Rovell.

"The difference between football and basketball is that a guy like Aaron Rodgers doesn't have a walk-around shoe," King said. "Harden does, and he will be in our lifestyle stuff."

Rovell adds that any breach of the deal could be grounds for termination from Adidas.
