Report: Bucks extend GM John Hammond's contract through 2016-17

The Milwaukee Bucks have extended general manager John Hammond's contract, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Charles F. Gardner.

Hammond, 61, was hired by the Bucks in 2008, and won the NBA Executive of the Year award for his handiwork during the 2009-10 season. That year, the Bucks finished with a 46-36 regular season record while ending a three-year playoff drought.

Although the Bucks have only had one season with a winning record during Hammond's seven-year tenure, he has gradually built an intriguing roster which currently features dynamic, young players in Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, Khris Middleton, John Henson, and Michael Carter-Williams.

This offseason, Hammond turned heads by signing top free-agent big man Greg Monroe.

The one-year extension will keep Hammond at the helm through the 2016-17 season.
