Hibbert has lost 16 pounds in order to adapt to a quicker league, ESPN's Mike Trudell reports.

Analysis:

Hibbert has never averaged more than 30 minutes per game in any season, and that may change this year given the Lakers' center depth. At the introductory press conference, the 7-foot-2 center expressed a desire to mainly focus on the defensive end and help turn around the Lakers' 29th ranked defense. He shot a career-high 82 percent from the free-throw line last season, but that's typically the extent of his positive offensive contribution. Those eyeing Hibbert in fantasy leagues will rely on his blocks, and if last season was any indication, Hibbert could increase his offensive rebounds significantly. During the first month of the 2014-15 season, former Laker Jordan Hill averaged a league-high 4.1 offensive rebounds through the first 17 games, a number highly influenced by Kobe Bryant's 39 percent shooting on 23.1 attempts per contest.
