Carmelo Anthony tries, fails to set world record for high-fives

At least life with the New York Knicks probably prepared Carmelo Anthony for this.

Anthony was on hand at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards on Thursday - yes, complete with funky hat - and attempted to set a new Guinness World Record. The Knicks superstar attempted to break the standing record of 129 high-fives performed in a 30-second span, figuring the veritable boatload of children on hand would provide the necessary high-five fodder.

He was mistaken.

The high-volume scorer didn't have quite the requisite volume of hand-slapping, managing only 120.

It was a valiant effort, and Anthony seemed to have a great time, at least.

Quibble if you will as to whether those were technically "high" fives, but that's a pretty good attempt, and let it never again be said that Anthony isn't a team player. Maybe there will be one giant high-five waiting for Kristaps Porzingis this fall, putting any awkwardness to bed.
