Hawks re-sign Paul Millsap to reported 3-year, $60-million deal

DeMarre Carroll might have left in free agency, but Paul Millsap is staying put in Atlanta.
Millsap announced Thursday via Twitter that his deal with the Hawks is official. Millsap will reportedly earn $60 million over the next three seasons with a player option in the third year.
Millsap passed up on a larger four-year, $80-million offer from the Orlando Magic to return to Atlanta. Given that the Hawks won 60 games and made it to the Eastern Conference finals last season, it likely wasn't too difficult a decision.
Millsap has grown into one of the best two-way power forwards in the league, averaging 17.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.8 steals, and a block since signing a team-friendly, two-year, $19-million deal with the Hawks in 2013.
The 30-year-old returns to a Hawks team that lost part of its core in Carroll, but that should still be a strong contender for the conference crown.
