Blazers' LaMarcus Aldridge has surgery on left thumb

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge had surgery Monday to repair a ligament in his left thumb.

The team said in a statement that Aldridge is expected to be able to return to basketball activity in about eight weeks.

Aldridge, a four-time All-Star, averaged 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds during the regular season, playing with the injured thumb for part of that time. He averaged 21.8 points and 11.2 rebounds in the playoffs.
