VIDEO: Vince Carter congratulates Curry, whose father he played with

Life comes at you fast. In NBA terms, Vince Carter is old. While the Memphis Grizzlies' elimination at the hands of the Golden State Warriors on Friday night did not offer any speculation as to whether the 38-year-old Carter will retire, Carter was quick to offer congrats to Stephen Curry.

To connect the dots (and generations), Carter played with Curry's father Dell with the Toronto Raptors from 1999 to 2002 - around the time a young Steph was honing his jump shot on the Raptors' practice court. On Friday, he headed off for a quick visit with Curry's mother.

Carter must be credited. For a player who was once christened "the next one" and have that simply not work out, he's done an admirable job of transforming into an effective role player - and by doing so, extending his career.
