Pelicans' Holiday out Monday vs. Timberwolves

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans will give point guard Jrue Holiday the night off Monday.

Holiday missed two weeks after suffering a stress reaction in his leg, but returned last Friday. In two games since his return, Holiday has averaged 9.5 points and 3.5 assists in 15.5 minutes per game.

Since the Pelicans are on the second night of a back-to-back against the league-worst Minnesota Timberwolves, the Pelicans are wise to give Holiday the rest.

The 24-year-old Holiday has been a solid two-way contributor for the Pelicans this season, posting averages of 14.9 points, 6.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 39 games played.

New Orleans is tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for eighth in the West with two games to go, but the Pelicans own the tiebreaker and should get by the depleted Timberwolves without a hitch.
