Knicks' Shved expected to be out 2-3 weeks with rib fracture

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Alexey Shved's season may be over.

The New York Knicks guard suffered an incomplete rib fracture and will be re-evaluated in approximately two-to-three weeks. He'll miss his second consecutive game Wednesday.

New York's season comes to an end April 15, so it's possible Shved won't play again until next campaign, as the Knicks sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

Shved, who has bounced around between three teams this season, has played his best ball since joining the Knicks, taking advantage of a larger role.

He's started nine of 16 games with New York, averaging 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists. Shved's shot still leaves something to be desired - he's shooting 39.7 percent - but the improved scoring is a welcome sign for a player who's played on four teams since entering the NBA in 2012.

The Knicks, at 14-57, are suffering through their worst season in franchise history.
