(SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors sure made a statement last time out and will go for a two-game winning streak Sunday when they travel to TD Bank Garden to face the Boston Celtics.
After a dispiriting loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on national television Thursday, the Warriors ripped the Toronto Raptors apart limb from limb on Friday.
Golden State prevailed, 113-89, but led by as many as 41.
"Our team has done a good job this year of responding to losses," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "I think we were just responding to a disappointing night last night."
Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry both bounced back from a rough shooting nights on Thursday. The Splash Brothers combined for 31 points on 10-of-30 shooting in Thursday's loss to LeBron James, but Thompson contributed 25 points with five assists and Curry totaled 22 points with five dimes in the win.
Draymond Green added 17 points with nine rebounds for Golden State, which has split each of the four games on its current six-game road trip. Leandro Barbosa and Shaun Livingston each had 11 off the bench.
The Warriors held the Raptors to 1-of-19 shooting (5.3 percent) in the first and led 27-11 after a quarter of play. It got worse from there as the Warriors led by 23 at the half.
Thompson netted the first 11 points for the Warriors to begin the third quarter. He hit three straight treys before Green converted a layup for a 67-33 lead and the Warriors led by as many as 41 over the final 21 minutes.
The Warriors complete their trip Monday at the Barclays Center versus the Nets.
The Celtics have been playing great basketball with three consecutive triumphs and a 7-3 record over their last 10. Boston has won five in a row as the host, but play four of its next five on the road.
On Friday, the C's came from behind to topple the Charlotte Hornets, 106-98, in Boston. The Celtics trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half, but emerged victorious.
Isaiah Thomas led that comeback by scoring 21 of his 28 points in the second half to give the Celtics their third straight win. Thomas came to Boston on trade deadline day last week.
"We just kind of stayed the course and chipped away," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. "We know it's a long game. We've been on the other side of that."
The Celtics got 19 points from Avery Bradley, but Boston's bench carried much of the scoring load with a combined 60 points. In addition to Thomas' effort, Jonas Jerebko netted 16 points and Jae Crowder contributed 14.
The Boston second unit outscored the Hornets' reserves by 44.
The Celtics were tough in defeat Jan. 25 at Oracle Arena. Golden State prevailed, 114-111, and has won three straight in this series. The Celtics have taken five of the last six at home versus the Warriors.
