It's hard to say what direction the Miami Heat could take over the next 18 hours.

They're currently tied for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, with four teams two games or less behind them. Given that, the Heat intend to keep their core of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh - and now Hassan Whiteside - according to Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears

With the exception of Whiteside's meteoric rise over the past two and a half months (and the fact he can't be traded because he signed a contract within the last three months), none of this should come as a surprise. Nobody wholeheartedly expected the Heat to blow things up and commence a rebuild.

They are however, among the trio of desired Goran Dragic locations, even if they don't have the assets necessary to make a realistic push via trade for the Slovenian point guard - as position the Heat could use an upgrade at.

That said, any wish the Heat may have to rise in the standings will likely require a proverbial shot in the arm. Those subsequently available on the Miami roster include names such as Norris Cole and Danny Granger, players not likely to command substantial returns.

The Detroit Pistons have interest in Cole as a potential replacement at the point for the injured Brandon Jennings, according to a report by ESPN's Marc Stein Wednesday, but he added the Heat are also trying to package Granger.

However, according to Spears' report, not listed on the untouchable list is small forward Luol Deng.
