Anthony Davis has adductor strain, listed as day-to-day

Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans underwent an MRI Thursday and was diagnosed with a grade 1 left adductor strain. The team is listing him as day-to-day, Nakia Hogan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Davis came down awkwardly during Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets, his entire weight landing on his left leg.

Davis injury

He left the game briefly, but returned.

Pelicans coach Monty Williams said Davis might play Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Brett Martel of the Associated Press.

On the other hand, Al Jefferson of the Charlotte Hornets recently missed nine games with a left adductor strain, although he is eight years older than Davis and, obviously, no two injury cases are exactly the same.

Davis would be a legitimate MVP candidate if the Pelicans were in playoff position. He's averaging 24.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game on 55.5 percent shooting this season.
