Report: Timberwolves' Martin to return Wednesday

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Martin plans to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves' lineup against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune's Jerry Zgoda.

Martin has been sidelined since fracturing his right wrist on Nov. 19 and undergoing surgery on Nov. 25.

The 31-year-old was averaging 20.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 48 percent shooting and 48 percent three-point shooting through nine games to start the season - figures that would rank as the most efficient of his career.

While Martin is unlikely to maintain that level of marksmanship, his scoring and shooting ability will certainly be welcomed by a young T-Wolves team that ranks 27th in offensive efficiency.

A question for Flip Saunders going forward will also be where Martin slots in the lineup.

With Martin healthy, the Wolves were starting the veteran at shooting guard and rookie Andrew Wiggins at small forward. Wiggins has blossomed over the last month or so as the team's starting two-guard, however, and it will be interesting to see how a potential move back to the three-spot affects him.
