Pelicans' Anderson will play Sunday

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans will have all hands on deck in their frontcourt on Sunday, as power forward Ryan Anderson is slated to return from an ankle injury, reports John Reid of NOLA.com.

Anderson missed the Pelicans' last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday due to the injury.

The return of Anderson gives the Pelicans an added dimension in their offense. Anderson's elite 3-point shooting ability at the four opens the interior to create driving lanes for drivers like Tyreke Evans, and room for post players like Anthony Davis to operate.

Defensively, Anderson has been a bit of a trainwreck. His slow footspeed, coupled with his lack of athleticism makes him a liability, especially if he is tasked to check Dallas Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki on Sunday.

On the year, Anderson is averaging 14.7 points and five rebounds in 29.2 minuntes per game while connecting on 34.1 percent of his 3-point tries.
