LaMarcus Aldridge has thumb in cast, will not play Thursday

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Trail Blazers will be without LaMarcus Aldridge Thursday as the star power forward suffers from a thumb injury, reported Joe Freeman of the Oregonian.

Trail Blazers general manager Neil Olshey confirmed reports of Aldridge's thumb being in a cast earlier Thursday.

Aldridge sustained the injury Monday against the Sacramento Kings. He tried for a steal but jammed his thumb against DeMarcus Cousins's knee.

The 29-year-old is averaging 23.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 blocks in 38 games. The Trail Blazers are 3-2 without him this season and will likely turn to Meyers Leonard to start in his place.
