Report: Lakers made calls regarding Pistons' Jennings, Monroe

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers, despite another playoff-free spring likely lurking on the horizon, are (or were) said to be interested in a pair of Detroit Pistons, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

Power forward Greg Monroe and point guard Brandon Jennings were possibly on the market in some form or another prior to Detroit's recent 9-1 run, but it might be difficult to justify moving them now that the Pistons are two games out of a playoff spot.

As Shelburne mentions, the Lakers also reportedly had interest in Dion Waiters, who has already been traded from the Cavaliers to the Thunder.

Furthermore, the Lakers wouldn't get Monroe's Bird rights in a trade, so unless L.A. plans on making an unlikely playoff run between now and April, they're better off going after Monroe this summer, when he will be an unrestricted free agent.
