Cavs' Love on 4-game losing streak: 'Things are going to work out'

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Despite dropping four straight contests, and eight of their last ten, Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love isn't concerned.

"We know that things are going to work out," Love told Sam Amick of USA Today. "I know that we have a lot of talent here, guys who can do a lot of different things, so I tend to look at that more than the negative stuff."

Love went on to shower praise upon newcomers Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Timofey Mozgov.

You saw what J.R. can bring (in scoring 27 points on 11 of 23 shooting against the Warriors). Whether he starts or comes off the bench, he can fill it up.

Shump, he can add a lot, especially defensively, he brings a very high energy there and is a big player.

With T-Mo (Mozgov), I've never played with a guy of that size and you saw a little bit of what he'll be able to bring tonight (Nine points, eight rebounds, one block in 26 minutes).

The Cavaliers have struggled on both ends of the floor during their 10-game slide. Their net rating ranks 28th thanks to a bottom-five ranking in both offensive and defensive rating.

To be fair, the Cavalier's roster has been in a state of turmoil due to a flurry of trades, and superstar LeBron James has been out since late December due to injury. Kyrie Irving has also missed time with a back injury.

But the Cavaliers' problems - especially on defense - have existed all season. The addition of a bonafide center in Mozgov will certainly help, but it remains to be seen if his presence alone will be enough to cure the Cavaliers' absentee rim protection.

Ultimately, there's still plenty of hope for the Cavaliers, as the team is stocked with talent. A healthy squad with Love, Irving and James still ranks as the most talented trio in the Eastern Conference, but in order for Cleveland to vault into elite status, they need to snap out of their current funk, and whip their defense into a top-10 outfit.
