Cousins found out Corbin will remain coach over social media

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings, as an organization, are trying to do a lot of new, unorthodox things. They may want to focus on some of the organizational basics first though.

After superstar DeMarcus Cousins found out that head coach Mike Malone had been fired through social media, the Kings probably should have evaluated their internal communications. A key player who has clashed with coaches in the past finding out about a coaching change from anyone outside the franchise is a bad look worth remedying for next time.

Alas, with the news that Tyrone Corbin will officially be the team's head coach for the rest of the season, Cousins was once again left to find out over social media.

"I didn't know," Cousins said Tuesday. "I didn't know officially until alst night either. That's when a lot of us found out."

The Kings look bad here once again, as these kinds of personnel moves have a major impact on players and should probably be shared more effectively. It's not the end of the world, of course, but it's a fairly simple way to keep your charges in the loop and make them feel a part of the process.
