Spencer Hawes back Monday after losing 9 games to injury

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Far more importantly than the fact that Spencer Hawes will return to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday is the fact that he'll do so with this hairstyle:

Hawes has missed the last nine games due to a bruised left knee but will suit up on Monday against the Utah Jazz. The Clippers have been stumbling a bit, dropping five of the nine games Hawes missed.

That doesn't really speak to how Hawes was playing before the injury, as he had yet to find a groove with his new team. In 22 games, he was averaging just 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds, his worst numbers since his 2007-08 rookie season. He was also shooting just 42 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from long range, failing to deliver on the floor spacing he was supposed to provide the Clippers' second unit with.

Still, they should be better with him than without him, with his minutes taking away run from Glen Davis and helping alleviate the heavy burden on Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. If Hawes can find himself in the Clippers' system, the team stands to have one of the better frontcourts in basketball. If ifs were fifths, though, right?
